The first part of your life changed forever … is the inclusion, you need to change your life forever.
Everyone has a trigger - a point in time where you decide to finally take action. For some it is a trip to the Doctor's Office. For others it could be a special occasion where you want to look your best - a wedding, a meeting or a beach holiday. For me it was one of the most socially unpleasant situations, fat people often found in.
So I was there, breathing heavily and drenched in sweat. I had just “sprinted” (or as some would put it, “rumbled”) by McCarran International Airport to catch the last flight back to the East Coast in a leisure trip to Las Vegas. My bags were strapped around my chest and dig into my big man division. You could hear the moans and huffs aimed at the late arrival of passengers as soon as I stepped on the Jetway. This quickly to the eye rolls and squished faces when they saw my sweaty, fat turn the corner and board the aircraft. I fought for my bags, my stomach and my hip down the extremely narrow passage (it was later I realized that the course was so narrow, because half of the area was as fat as I was, only they were not sweating Because they relate to time). So I came to my line to find was that I rewarded with a 757 middle seat … a fate worse than death to a fat man. Not only that, but the entire aircraft is waiting for me to stow my bags and sits in this way can the long hike than I home.
So fight for my bag under the seat, I could feel the eyes focused on my big, fat sweaty butt bent over, brushing doubt the shoulder of the person on the course. Unfortunately, my back was so great that I had kind of lost in the broadest sense, it is sufficient if I was, in something I did not really know. I got my bags wedged in under the seat in front of me, and now it was time for the fun part - wedging my rump in the seat.
I could see the lucky person in the window seat when I was fidgeting in line and stared out blankly the window with a scowl on her face. She knew that she was not just to sit next to a sweaty, Big Guy for 4 + hours, but that if I needed a little more space, I would probably leaning in their direction, as it was in smaller stature than the woman seat I .
the course into the seat and fight with pulling the belt from weighty under my butt. The whole time I see the beads of sweat fly back and forth and landing on the ground and in front of me - enough to throw myself in my mouth a little. I am myself muttering, pray that I do not need a belt extension. Fortunately, I have enough abdominal strength to suck in just enough to the belt around me. When I breathe again and try to sit back, I can feel the vinyl armrests digging into my sides and the cold sweat-soaked shirt slowly adherence to all my skin up and down my back. The woman in the hallway gave me a look of disgust, as they sat back, Ms. Glass House that they was.
As the captain made his announcements, I could feel my heart rate back to normal “and could also feel the skin rash form on the pages of my well by the relentless arm - I had a case of Dunlops (my stomach had “lopped-dun” on the armrests!)
Luckily, the woman on the window had a bladder like a camel, because I closed my eyes and fell asleep - probably fill the entire area with animal-like snores from the excess fat I wore neck. I did not want to run the risk of being awake when the snack cart came around.
What was in fact 15 minutes from the time I got through airport security at the time I was sitting felt like an eternity for me. This happens when you navigate through a most dreaded experience.
That was my turning point - or in this case, my fatshed - moment. It was then that I admitted to myself that I was fat and needed to do something to it.
